Last week’s Executive Committee meeting of the Harwich Society included a very rare agenda item for its members to decide on. For the first time in 45 years the committee had to elect a new secretary for the Harwich Society following the decision by Andy Rutter to stand down. Fortunately, a very able replacement was to hand and the committee unanimously elected the Harwich Society’s Minute Secretary, Christine Hillion, to become the new secretary.
Andy Rutter was present at the meeting in his new role as the Harwich Society’s vice president and he was delighted by the appointment.
Andy Rutter says, “Christine is the perfect choice to be the new secretary of the Harwich Society and I am delighted that she has accepted the post. I hope she knows she has to serve for 45 years before she can stand down!”
Christine Hillion says, “It is quite a daunting prospect to take over from Andy but the Harwich Society has a fantastic team at its helm which will make things a lot easier. It’s a remarkable organisation and I am very pleased to be its new secretary.”
