Students from the Louise Michel Primary School in Valence, France stayed at the 1912 Centre in Harwich as part of Tendring’s Town twinning and they were given a tour of Harwich’s historic sites by Harwich Society guides on Friday 11th March.
The tour will began at Harwich’s High Lighthouse where they were be greeted by Harwich’s Town Crier, James Cole, who welcomed them with a special message in French.
It is four years since students from the Louise Michel School last visited and the Harwich Society was delighted to have the opportunity to show these latest visitors all that makes Harwich truly ‘historic’.
Harwich Society chairman, Colin Farnell, says, “The Harwich Society Guides love the opportunity to show off our town to visitors and it is a particular pleasure when the visitors are children. Historic Harwich is a very special place and our guides will make sure that the students from the Louise Michel Primary School go home with some very special memories.”
