‘Hark, the Harwich Society Sing!’
Over 30 members of the Harwich Society toured the pubs and restaurants of Historic Harwich on Thursday evening for the traditional Harwich Society charity carol singing. Accompanied by the piano accordion of Gordon Rudland and decked out in festive hats and jumpers, the Society was spreading Christmas cheer whilst raising money for this year’s chosen charity, Harwich and District Community First Responders.
Chairlady of the Society’s Social Group, Anna Rendell-Knights, says, “Carol singing around Historic Harwich has become a much looked forward to occasion for the Harwich Society and this year’s event certainly lived up to expectation.”
By the time that the carol singers relaxed with a mince pie and glass of mulled wine in Anna Rendell-Knights’ home the tour of the pubs and restaurants had raised £250.
“Everywhere we visited people were keen to join in and keen to donate,” continued Anna Rendell-Knights. “It was Historic Harwich enjoying the true spirit of Christmas.”
